How to migrate connected Tapo devices from old Tapo hub to the new one

Introduction

The migration function can help you move your devices from your old hub to your new hub. If you wish to make a device Migration, this FAQ article will be helpful to you.

Requirements

  • Tapo Hub
  • Tapo devices that can be connected to the Tapo Hub
  • Make sure the firmware of the hub and device is updated to the latest version

Configuration

Scenario 1: Migration of Sub-G devices

Common Sub-G models include: Tapo C400S2, Tapo C420, Tapo D230, TD23, and Sensors, Sub-G Switches.

Step 1:

On the old hub interface, click the Device Settings icon > Migrate Connected Devices.

Select the devices you wish to migrate and the new hub for migration.

Step 2:

After making your selection, click Migrate > Transfer to confirm the start of the migration. Then wait patiently, the migration will be completed in about half a minute.

Do not reboot or upgrade the hub while migrating devices.

Step 3:

After the migration is completed, you will be able to see your devices in the new hub, and this device will also disappear from the old hub.

Migration completed, and the device will show on the new hub.

Scenario 2: Migration of Wi-Fi Camera

The migration of the Wi-Fi Camera can be achieved through the Connect existing Devices function of the hub. You can migrate the local Wi-Fi Camera to the new hub more conveniently.

The specific Migration methods vary among different hub models.

Step 1:

In the management interface of the new Tapo H500 hub, click Add a device > Connect Existing Devices, select the Wi-Fi Camera you wish to migrate, and then click Connect to migrate the Wi-Fi Camera to the new hub.

In the management interface of the new Tapo H100/Tapo H110/Tapo H200 hub, click Connected Devices > Connect Existing Devices, select the Wi-Fi Camera you wish to migrate, and then click Connect to migrate the Wi-Fi Camera to the new hub.

Step 2:

Wait patiently, the connection will be completed in about half a minute. After the connection is completed, you will be able to see your devices in the new hub, and this device will also disappear from the old hub.

Connection completed, and the device will show on the new hub.
