Information Regarding the Tapo Care Free Trial

New Tapo Care, powered by Aireal, offers every new Tapo user a 30-day free trial upon their first subscription.

After the trial period ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid plan and renew on a recurring basis using your selected payment method—unless you cancel before the trial concludes.

 

Q1: Will I be charged during the free trial?

A1: No—you will not be charged during the 30-day trial period. However, please note that you must provide valid payment details to activate the trial.

Unless canceled before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid plan, and billing will begin using your chosen payment method.

You may cancel at any time during the trial to avoid future charges. Your service access will continue uninterrupted until the trial period expires.

 

Q2: How can I start a free trial for the new Tapo Care service?

A2: If you're eligible, the free trial option will appear automatically in the Tapo app when you set up a compatible camera.

Alternatively, you can go to: Tapo App > Me Page > Tapo Care Subscription

Follow the on-screen instructions to select a plan and begin your 30-day trial. Please note that entering your payment information is required to activate the subscription. Charges will only apply after the trial ends—if you don't cancel beforehand.

A3: Yes. You may cancel your free trial at any time during the 30-day period. However, once canceled, the trial cannot be reinstated or resumed.

Q4: Why am I not eligible for the free trial?

A4: Eligibility is automatically assessed based on your TP-Link ID and its linked Apple or Google account when you access the Tapo Care subscription page.

Typically, the free trial is available exclusively to completely new Tapo users. If the Tapo app displays a “Start Free Trial” button, you are eligible. If not, your account may already be linked to a prior Tapo Care subscription or trial.

Note: Even if your Tapo account is newly registered, you will not qualify for the trial if your associated Apple or Google account has previously subscribed to or trialed Tapo Care.

Additionally, trial availability may vary depending on ongoing promotional campaigns. Please refer to the real-time status shown within the Tapo app for the most accurate and up-to-date eligibility information.

 

Q5: Can I change my subscription plan during the free trial?

A5: No. You may only select one plan for your free trial. Changing your plan during the trial period may immediately end the trial, change your subscription to the new plan, and trigger immediate billing.

A6: This typically occurs when you modify your subscription during the trial period—for example, by upgrading from the Cloud Plan to the Cloud Advanced Plan or changing the number of cameras under your Cloud Plan. Such changes will immediately terminate your existing trial and transition you into a paid billing cycle.
